Andrew Tate, the influencer known for his controversial views on women, has won an appeal to be placed under house arrest instead of being detained in jail. He has been held in custody for three months, along with his brother Tristan and two others, on suspicion of human trafficking and organized crime. The brothers have denied the allegations of forcing women to create online pornographic content.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal has approved the appeal made by all four individuals and granted them house arrest while the investigation continues. Tate’s spokesperson expressed gratitude to the court and supporters for standing by them during this time. The brothers, who are US-British citizens, have been living in Romania since 2017.
The pretrial detention of the Tate brothers and their two alleged accomplices has been extended four times since their arrest. They are set to leave prison on Friday evening local time, according to Romanian news outlet Gandul. DIICOT, the Romanian anti-organized crime agency, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
