Worldsfeed Tech Desk: Google has officially confirmed the launch of its new Pixel phone, likely to be the Pixel 7a, on May 11, just a day after the company’s annual developer conference Google I/O 2023. The announcement was made by Google India on Twitter, which also revealed that the phone would be available on Flipkart in India on the same date. Although the phone in the teaser image is blurred out, it resembles leaked images of the Pixel 7a, particularly in its blue colorway.
The confirmation by Google India is the first official acknowledgment of the Pixel 7a, which is expected to have similar features to the Pixel 7, including the Tensor G2 chip and camera setup, with the main difference being a slightly smaller size and larger bezels. While rumors suggest the Pixel 7a may cost around $500, some buyers may find the flagship Pixel 7 a more compelling option, especially as it is often available at similar prices.
In addition to the Pixel 7a, Google I/O 2023 may see other announcements related to AI, Android 14, and hardware such as the Google Pixel Tablet and Google Pixel Fold, which have been long-awaited by tech enthusiasts.
