Worldsfeed Tech Desk: Microsoft’s Windows-95 turned 28 on August 24. On this occasion, founder Bill Gates shared a GIF of its launch party almost three decades ago on the social media platform X (earlier Twitter) and wished him a happy birthday.

In his post, he wrote- ‘Happy Birthday WINDOWS, some memories stay with you forever, people have been following you on the internet for 28 years.’ In this GIF, Bill Gates is seen dancing with the company’s former CEO Steve Ballmer. Many famous stars of that time are also seen having fun with him on the stage.

Windows 1.0, the first user version of Windows, was launched on 20 November 1985. Since then many versions of Microsoft Windows have been released. Of these, Windows 11 is the newest, which was launched by the company in October 2021. Currently the company is working on its next version Windows 12.

Let’s know some special things related to Windows
On August 24, 1983, Microsoft founder Bill Gates announced the launch of Windows 1.0. Although the window had started before this, it was not available for the users. Earlier its name was MS Windows or Microsoft Disk Operating System. It was launched in 1985 after about 2 years.

The name ‘Windows’ was given by the marketing officer of the company.
Windows founder Bill Gates wanted to name it ‘Interface Manager’. But, the company’s marketing officer, Roland Hanson, named it ‘Windows’. Before this, on the occasion of the launch of version 1.0, it was said- ‘Windows will give unprecedented power to the users. This is going to lay the foundation for hardware and software development for the next few years.
